Cerasus

The German name - Kirschbaum, English - Cherry, Italian - Ciliegio. Grows in all Europe, in Asia Minor, the USA and some zones of Central America, and also in the south and in a midland of our country.

Distinguish also the American cherry (Prunus serotina, the local name - Black cherry), growing in Canada and northern part of the USA. A cherry branch narrow, yellowish.

Mature wood brown, sometimes the grey.

Wood structure various with rather uniform structure. Cherry wood very decorative, has a beautiful warm shade, but eventually darkens. On hardness it essentially is softer than an oak and well gives in to all kinds of processing. Of a cherry do small souvenirs, every possible hand-made articles.

 

Couratari oblongifolia

Grows in the South America. Colour of wood light-straw with an orange shade and more dark intonation.

Durability proof. It is applied to a covering of a floor, decorative details of furniture, musical instruments. Wood is good in work and planing, the surface is well ground, glued easily.

 

Sorbus aucuparia
